Hello dear readers,
I'm Kim, a life coach in Cork City, Ireland. I'm delighted to start this blog as I love to write and would love to share my experiences in the search for love, happiness, health, and well-being. I hope to inspire you to start living the life that is meant for you — a life of fulfilment, passion, joy, and great health. It is my mission to help others realise how brilliant and unique they are and to help them create their desired lives.
As a life coach, I work with the principle that the client is naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. This approach comes from the belief that clients have the answers, or they can find them if they are asked the right questions. Nothing is wrong or broken, and there is no need to “fix” anything. As a coach, I simply help you discover and uncover, the individual that you already are.
In addition to coaching sessions, there are many tools, exercises, and tips that can help you work on this by yourself, which I will be sharing. I will also write about my own experiences and what has helped me on my journey. I can already reveal that mindfulness, creativity, and nature are a part of it. They play an important role in my daily life, keeping me grounded and connected to myself, so I can show up as the best version of me when supporting others.
For this blogpost I want to share some of the foundational principles for changing your reality. I came up with the following formula:
Decision + Awareness + Loving-Kindness + Goal + Intention + Action = Positive Change
Decision to change
First of all, you need to make the decision that you want to change your life. You are the only person responsible for your life and how you experience it. Stop making excuses or blaming others; there is always a choice to make things better.
Grow awareness
Second, and this one is HUGE, you need to grow your awareness of how you feel, think, and behave. You can only change that which you are aware of. Usually, we are completely identified with all our emotions and thoughts, and we simply react and make decisions based on autopilot. The practice is to become the observer of what's living inside you, particularly when it is something negative. Practising mindfulness or yoga could be of great help with this.
Loving-Kindness
My absolute favourite to work with, and this is SO important. We really need to learn to be kind to ourselves (and, of course, to others), and to stop criticising, comparing, and belittling ourselves. We are only human, and perfect humans don't exist. Instead of trying to perfect yourself, start focusing on all the qualities you have, the good you bring to the world, and what makes you unique. I have lots of tools and tips to share with you.
Goal setting
Setting goals is crucial when you want to change your life because they provide clarity and direction, helping you focus on what truly matters. Goals break down larger ambitions into manageable steps, making it easier to track progress and stay motivated. They also allow you to measure success and adjust your approach if needed. Without clear goals, it’s easy to lose momentum or get overwhelmed by the process of change.
Intention for the change
This is something easily overlooked, but the intention behind the change you want to make will have a big impact on whether you will succeed or not. If it is coming from a place of lack or fear, it will be hard to create what you want. You will very likely just attract more of the same. That is why it is so important to first work on your limiting beliefs and start believing in yourself. Once you start believing that you deserve all the good in life, and you put your mind to it, you will receive it.
Another criterion you might want to consider is to think about how the change you want to make is also good for everyone else around you. By making it bigger than yourself, it will give you more purpose and meaning, and a much greater chance of success.
Action
No change comes without action. Taking action is very empowering; it creates forward movement and you take control of your situation. However, sometimes it requires you to step out of your comfort zone and do things that are scary. But the more you do it, the more powerful you'll become, and the belief in yourself will grow. Learn not to be put off by potential failure, and praise yourself for trying new things and putting yourself out there. All successful people have faced lots of adversity and failure, but they decided to not give up and keep going!
So for those who want to start making meaningful changes in their lives, keep these six principles in mind, and follow my blog posts for more tips and tools.
That's it for the first blog! I hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful. I'd love to hear from you, and if you have anything you would like me to discuss in future blogs, please let me know in the comments!
